Alcatel-Lucent to help upgrade Tiscali Italy 100Gbps network

Alcatel-Lucent recently announced that it will offer land-based and submarine optical network upgrade to 100Gbps technologies and products in Italy Tiscali, including the 1830 Photonic Service Switch and 1621 submarine cable link extender SLE, 1350 Network Manager.
According to Italy's digital growth plan, Tiscali is necessary for schools, hospitals and other public institutions to improve broadband access. The upgrade of the terrestrial network part is the service of this goal.
Submarine upgrade part of Alcatel-Lucent's equipment will connect Sardinia's Olbia to Civitavecchia Italian peninsula, as well as the Calliari Sardinia to Sicily Mazara del Vallo.
The upgrade is expected to be completed in October this year.
